Functional Fertility Support

A root-cause approach to fertility.

Fertility is a reflection of overall health. We look at the hormones, metabolism, inflammation, and nutrient status that shape your ability to conceive — optimizing the terrain for you and your partner, naturally or alongside fertility treatment.

The Science

Fertility as a sign of whole-body health.

Reproductive health sits downstream of everything else. When the body senses it isn’t in a safe, well-resourced state — because of blood-sugar dysregulation, inflammation, thyroid issues, or nutrient gaps — fertility is one of the first functions it down-prioritizes.

That’s why so much of fertility comes back to hormonal balance, metabolic health (insulin and blood sugar, as in PCOS), and a low-inflammation, nutrient-rich terrain. These factors affect egg and sperm quality, ovulation, implantation, and the health of a pregnancy.

Optimizing the terrain gives your body — and, when used, fertility treatments — the best possible foundation to work from.

How We Approach It

We support both partners, because fertility is a shared equation. Whether you’re trying naturally or preparing for IUI or IVF, functional care optimizes the terrain — hormones, metabolism, nutrients, and inflammation.

Root Drivers

What shapes your fertility terrain.

Fertility challenges often trace to a few modifiable drivers. We investigate each rather than focusing on a single number.

Hormonal Balance

Ovulation and cycle regularity depend on a coordinated hormonal rhythm. We assess and support the balance of reproductive and stress hormones that govern conception.

Metabolic Health

Insulin resistance — central to PCOS — disrupts ovulation and egg quality. Steadying blood sugar and metabolism is one of the highest-leverage steps in natural fertility.

Inflammation & Nutrients

Inflammation, thyroid dysfunction, and deficiencies in nutrients like folate, vitamin D, iron, and omega-3s all affect egg and sperm quality. Correcting them builds a healthier foundation.

What We Work On

Six systems behind conception.

Fertility is whole-body. These are the systems we assess and support for both partners.

Hormonal Rhythm

Supporting the balanced cycle and hormones that ovulation depends on.

Blood Sugar & Insulin

Steadying the metabolic factors central to PCOS and egg quality.

Thyroid Function

Ensuring the thyroid — critical for conception — is optimized.

Nutrient Status

Repleting folate, vitamin D, iron, and omega-3s for egg and sperm health.

Inflammation

Lowering the inflammatory load that affects implantation and quality.

Stress & Gut Health

Addressing the stress physiology and gut that shape hormones.

Who This Is For

Common Questions

Questions about infertility, answered.

Can functional medicine help with fertility?
We optimize the terrain that fertility depends on — hormones, blood sugar and insulin, thyroid, inflammation, and key nutrients — for both partners, whether you are trying naturally or preparing for IUI or IVF.
Do you work with couples doing IVF?
Yes. Functional care complements fertility treatment by optimizing egg and sperm quality and the overall terrain in the preconception window.
Do you take insurance?
We are a fee-for-service practice. We accept HSA and FSA, and offer in-person visits in Minnetonka and virtual visits. We will review cost and options at your consultation.
How far in advance should we start?
Because egg and sperm develop over about three months, starting at least three to six months before trying gives the terrain time to improve — though it is never too late to begin.
