Functional Neurology Support

A metabolic approach to brain health.

Brain fog, anxiety, low mood, and poor focus are signals — not character flaws. We look at the inflammation, blood sugar, gut, and toxins driving how your brain feels, and rebuild the conditions it needs to think clearly again.

Your Metabolic Healing Starts Here.
The Science

The brain is a metabolic organ.

Your brain burns more energy than any other organ its size. When that energy supply is disrupted — by blood-sugar swings, struggling mitochondria, or inflammation — thinking, mood, and focus are the first things to suffer.

Modern research increasingly frames brain fog, anxiety, and low mood not as purely ‘chemical imbalances’ but as downstream signs of neuroinflammation, metabolic dysfunction, and a leaky gut-brain axis. The brain is responding to its environment.

Change the environment — steady the fuel, calm the inflammation, heal the gut — and the brain often follows.

How We Approach It

Rather than treating a symptom in isolation, we map the whole terrain feeding your brain: blood sugar, mitochondria, gut, nutrients, and toxic load. Care is designed to run alongside your primary care provider, therapist, or psychiatrist — supporting the biology underneath how you feel.

Root Drivers

What’s really driving the fog.

Most brain symptoms trace back to a handful of upstream drivers. We investigate each one rather than chasing symptoms alone.

Neuroinflammation

When the immune cells of the brain stay activated, thinking slows and mood dips. Chronic infections, gut issues, and toxins keep this fire burning. Calming it is central to clearer thinking.

Blood Sugar & Mitochondria

The brain needs steady, clean fuel. Glucose crashes and sluggish mitochondria show up as fog, fatigue, and afternoon crashes. Metabolic stability is brain support.

The Gut-Brain Axis

The gut makes neurotransmitters and talks to the brain constantly. Dysbiosis, a leaky barrier, and hidden infections translate directly into anxiety, low mood, and fog.

What We Work On

Six systems behind how your brain feels.

Brain symptoms don’t start in the brain alone. These are the systems we assess and support.

Mitochondrial Function

Targeted nutrients and lifestyle work to restore the cellular energy your brain runs on.

Inflammation

Lowering the chronic inflammatory signaling that clouds thinking and mood.

Blood Sugar & Insulin

Steadying the fuel supply so focus and energy stop crashing.

Gut & Microbiome

Repairing the gut-brain axis that governs neurotransmitters and mood.

Nutrient Status

B12, folate, vitamin D, omega-3s, magnesium — the building blocks of a healthy brain.

Toxins & Sleep

Reducing toxic load and restoring the deep sleep the brain uses to repair.

Who This Is For

How We Work

The tools we bring to every plan.

Functional Lab Work

We look at the markers standard visits skip — blood sugar and insulin, inflammatory markers, thyroid, B-vitamins and methylation, vitamin D, omega-3 index, and gut health. The goal is a clear picture of what your brain is actually working with.

Common Panels
  • Fasting insulin, glucose & HbA1c
  • hs-CRP & inflammatory markers
  • B12, folate & methylation markers
  • Full thyroid panel
  • Vitamin D & omega-3 index
  • GI-MAP stool analysis

Nutrition & Blood-Sugar Strategy

A brain-supportive, blood-sugar-steady nutrition plan — often lower-glycemic, rich in healthy fats and nutrients the brain thrives on. Personalized to you and built to be sustainable.

Approaches We Use
  • Blood-sugar stabilization
  • Healthy-fat & ketone-aware eating
  • Anti-inflammatory nutrition
  • Targeted nutrient repletion
  • Continuous glucose insight when helpful

IV Therapy & Targeted Support

NAD+, high-dose nutrients, and customized formulations to support mitochondrial energy, lower inflammation, and sharpen mental clarity — dosed to your labs and goals.

Frequently Used
  • NAD+ support
  • Glutathione & antioxidants
  • High-dose vitamin C
  • B-complex & magnesium
  • Amino acid & mineral blends

Common Questions

Questions about brain health, answered.

Can functional medicine help with brain fog and mood?
Yes. We look at the inflammation, blood sugar, gut health, and nutrient status that shape how your brain feels, then work to steady the fuel, calm inflammation, and heal the gut-brain axis. Care runs alongside your primary provider, therapist, or psychiatrist.
Is this a replacement for my therapist or psychiatrist?
No. We support the biology underneath mood and cognition and coordinate with your mental-health providers — we do not replace them.
Do you take insurance?
We are a fee-for-service practice. We accept HSA and FSA, and offer both in-person visits in Minnetonka and virtual visits. We can review cost and options together at your consultation.
How soon will I feel clearer?
Many people notice steadier energy and clearer thinking within a few weeks of steadying blood sugar and addressing inflammation, with deeper gains over a few months.
